KARACHI: Religious Affairs Former Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi on was released from the Adiala jail; two days after the
Islamabad High Court cleared him and
others in the Hajj corruption cases.
The former minister addressed the media stating that he is grateful t
o Allah upon his rele
ase.
“The current verdict reinstated my trust,” he said and informed the media that he will go to Multan tomorrow for his brother’s death anniversary.
He stated, “My trial continued for six years, although no one accused me before a court.”
He was asked if he would consider re-joining politics to which he responded that the ‘question was too difficult to answer’.
Saeed Kazmi was acquitted by the
Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday.
According to sources, the case was chaired by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani who also issued acquittal orders for former Director General (DG) Hajj Rao Shakeel and former Joint Secretary Religious Affairs Aftabul Islam.
Kazmi and
others were blamed for hiring a substandard
building on expensive rent to housing Pakistani pilgrims during Hajj and receiving bribes.
